The fact that Mary is the Mother of God, the One through whom God came close to humankind, is so extraordinary that it has inspired new comments at each period of our Christian era.
Both in the East and the West, while some have tried to reduce the mystery, perhaps trying to make it easier to understand, in every era, many others have experienced this truth and its spiritual consequences, and have brilliantly formulated again and again, in their own fashion, this unfathomable truth.
