Luxembourg

Luxembourg was founded in 963 when Siegfried I of the Ardennes acquired the feudal lands and built a castle on the ruins of a Roman fortress, through an exchange treaty with the Abbey of Saint Maximin in Trier.

The country was dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the seventeenth century, under the title of "Our Lady of Consolation of the Afflicted." At the same time, a Marian pilgrimage was born, which took on a national scale and contributed to the identity of this nation.

Luxembourg was declared a neutral state thanks to the Treaty of London on May 11, 1867.

Pope Saint John Paul II visited the country on May 16, 1985, calling the people to seek the wisdom of Christ. "Through the Blessed Virgin Mary, by Your Mother's Immaculate Heart, we pray: let us discover the treasures of wisdom hidden in You."
