Wigratzbad

Wigratzbad (Germany)

Wigratzbad is a village in Germany (Allgäu, diocese of Augsburg), a short distance from Austria and Switzerland, less than 20 km from the town of Lindau on Lake Constance, at the foot of the Alps.

Apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1922 and in the following years

One of the messages of apparition of Mary, Immaculate Mother of the Victory was: "I will crush the serpent's head." A chapel, built from July 1937, was blessed on March 25, 1940, with the permission of the local bishop.

The statue of Our Lady of the Victory resembles that of Our Lady of Lourdes, but it stands on the globe of the earth. Rays surrounding her image symbolize Our Lady's victory over sin. The current shrine can seat 1,200.

Every Thursday evening a mass is celebrated at 8 PM, followed by a Eucharistic adoration until midnight. On the first and third Saturday of each month, there is an all-night Eucharistic adoration until 7 o'clock AM. (1)

500,000 pilgrims visit the shrine each year

Since 1988, it is also the place of their first seminary and the headquarters of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter, who keeps alive the traditional Roman rite (liturgical books of 1962) by special permission of the pope.
