Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for the healing of all disease

June 2-10,2021

Sign up today and pray with thousands of people around the world to ask Jesus to free us from all disease.

From June 2-10 and for 9 consecutive days, you will receive a daily email containing special meditations and prayers addressed to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, to ask him to protect the world from all disease.

This novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus was written by Father Simon Chouanard, pastor of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Parish (Coeur Eucharistique de Jésus) in Paris, in collaboration with the Marie de Nazareth Association.

Why pray a novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus?

In 1899, Leo XIII consecrated the world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. All the popes after him promoted this devotion as an effective means of renewing the faith in the Catholic world. The Sacred Heart of Jesus, who loved mankind so much, is filled with mercy and goodness.

John Paul II declared in June 1999: "I wish to express my approval and encouragement to those who are developing, deepening and promoting the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Christ in the Church."

Margaret Mary Alacoque said to Jesus: "O my Savior, I would perish a thousand times, unless your adorable Heart strengthened me and assisted me in all my needs."

In a world where viruses and diseases are on the rise, Pope Francis embodies for us the image of Christ, the Good Shepherd, moved with compassion before the crowds of his time (Mt 9:36). To the people of today, helpless in the face of such a mysterious and threatening evil, Francis manifests more than ever the tenderness of the Father who looks upon the misery of his children and invites us to do the same.

Cardinal Piacenza, of the Roman Curia, recently declared that in this unprecedented and dramatic situation, "extraordinary measures must be taken to help, visit, comfort, and assist, to never let anyone be without God’s caress in the face of suffering and the prospect of an imminent death."

The trials caused by illness give us a special opportunity to offer the compassion of the Heart of Christ to many distraught people, and also to raise our prayer to the Father of mercies so that this scourge may cease and that people may live in serenity and security. May the Hearts of Jesus and Mary guide all our steps in this difficult time...
