Bechwat: Our Lady of Bechwat

A supernatural event occurred in Lebanon on August 21, 2004, in the northern plain of the Bekaa.

In front of the statue of Our Lady of Pontmain, a young boy heard himself pronounce a prayer which was "bigger than himself":

"We greet you, Virgin Mary, Queen of the world, of peace and of love.

Elderly people, children and woman are falling, throughout the world.

Bring peace, love and freedom over the face of the earth, O Queen of the world."

This prayer expresses the belief that through Mary the whole region can obtain three gifts that are desperately needed: peace, love and liberty.

Both Christians and Muslims come to pray in the little church.

Between August 2004 and January 2006, the village of Bechwat attracted one million faithful, Christians and Muslim alike, mostly from Lebanon, but some also from the neighboring countries of Syria and Jordan.
