The Sisters of Nazareth (Society of Nazareth)

The Sisters of Nazareth (Society of Nazareth)

This congregation was born at Montléan, a suburb of Montmirail, France in the early 19th century. Three people contributed to the foundation at the time of the French Revolution:

- Mrs de Doudeauville, wife and mother who initiated this apostolic project

- Fr. Roger Father, Jesuit, who gave the Congregation his spirituality and the basis for its Constitution

- Elisabeth Rollat, who was the first Mother Superior

The vocation of the Sisters of Nazareth is to receive, live and communicate the mystery of Jesus and the Holy Family of Nazareth.

The Congregation established itself first in Galilee: Nazareth, Haifa, Accra, Shfaram; then Beirut, Lebanon in 1868 and Kfarzeina in 1954; and since 1949 in Jordan and Amman.

In the Middle East as in France, Italy or Spain, the mission of the Congregation is carried out through various educational endeavors.
