Russia

The majority of Russia Christians are Orthodox, who have venerated for over a millennium many holy icons of the Virgin Mary. Those are miraculous because they are a presence of the Blessed Virgin and her divine Son Jesus. The most famous, venerated not only by Russians but world-wide, are the icons of Our Lady of Vladimir (Moscow) and Our Lady of Kazan.

In recent history, we must mention the Icon of the "Reigning Mother of God" of Kolomenskoye (Moscow), representing the Virgin Mary with her Son and in the attitude of a queen. This icon was rediscovered in 1917, just before the apparitions of Fatima (Portugal) where, on July 13, 1917, the Virgin of Fatima gave the world this strong message of hope: "In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia who will convert, and the world will know a certain period of peace." This message can be better understood today, after 70 years of communist rule and the end of persecution.

At the present time Russia is experiencing a spiritual comeback, shifting people's vision of the world and society from Saint Petersburg to Altay.
